Why is the UPS12-600MR rated 147 Ah when the 540MR is 149?
Because they are tuned for different ends of the discharge curve in the same case. The 600MR carries 601 watts per cell at fifteen minutes against the 540MR's 537, and gives up two amp-hours at the twenty-hour rate to do it. At 90 minutes the order is the same as at 15: 153 watts per cell against 139. If your UPS worksheet is written in watts, the 600MR is the larger battery. If it is written in amp-hours, it reads as the smaller one.
Is there a C&D UPS12-620MR?
No. C&D's High Rate Max table lists a UPS12-600MR at 12V and a UPS6-620MR at 6V, and no 12V 620 part exists. Our own page title and meta carried UPS12-620MR, and that is corrected here. If a drawing or an old BOM in your records calls for a UPS12-620MR, the block on the shelf is almost certainly one of those two, and a specialist can tell them apart from the label photograph.
What short-circuit current should the DC protection be sized against?
6,448 amps at 0.1 second per block, from C&D's additional-data table. That is the highest figure on the High Rate Max sheet, above the 5,540 amps of the front-access 1000MRF and the 5,000 of the 540MR. Fuse and breaker interrupting ratings, and the bolted-fault study behind them, get built on the battery's figure and not on a series average.
Which end-point voltages does C&D publish for the 600MR?
Four: 1.75, 1.70, 1.67 and 1.65 volts per cell, across ten runtimes from 5 to 90 minutes. The other 12V top-terminal blocks in the line carry a fifth column at 1.60 VPC and this one does not. If your sizing sheet is written to a 1.60 end point, use the 1.65 row as the published figure and ask a specialist to confirm against C&D's sizing program.
