How does a 187.9 lb block get onto the shelf?
With lifting handles and two people, or a battery lift. C&D's installation guide lists battery lifting equipment and a fork lift for the pallets among the required tools, and notes that individual blocks in this family run from 25 to 180 pounds; the 1000MRF sits just above that stated range at 187.9 lbs, or 85.2 kg. Check the shelf load rating and the freight elevator capacity before the pallet arrives, and load the lowest tiers first for rack stability.
Why is the UPS12-1000MRF wider than the other front-access blocks?
C&D publishes the dimensions and not the reason for them. The 615MRF and the 700MRF are both 125 mm wide, or 4.92 inches; the 1000MRF is 154 mm, or 6.06 inches. Depth stays at 559 mm and height at 322 mm, within a tenth of a millimeter of the 700MRF. So a tier upgraded from 700MRF to 1000MRF keeps its depth and height but gains 1.14 inches of width per block, which is 4.56 inches across a row of four.
What does the UPS12-1000MRF hold for a full hour?
345.3 watts per cell to 1.75 volts per cell, or 356.9 to 1.67, at 77°F. That is 2,072 watts per block for sixty minutes at the 1.75 end point. At ninety minutes the figure drops to 250.1. C&D publishes four end points and ten runtimes for this model, so a plant sized to an unusual combination can be read straight off the table.
What cable size does a UPS12-1000MRF string need?
It depends on the load, and C&D's guide gives the bands: AWG #6 up to 90 amperes, #2 up to 150, #1/0 up to 250, #4/0 up to 400, and two runs of #2/0 up to 600. Intertier, interrow and interrack cables should be at least the same size as the interunit connectors. Size against the discharge current the UPS draws in service. The 5,540 amp figure is the bolted-fault number used to rate the protective device; conductor sizing uses the load current instead.
