CSB XTV1285F2 Battery - 12V 8.5Ah Extreme Temperature AGM, F2

The XTV1285F2 shares its case with the XTV1272F2 down to the millimeter, 150.9 by 64.8 by 98.6, and carries 22 percent more capacity inside it: 8.80 amp hours at the 20 hour rate against 7.20. CSB's price list rounds that to 8.5 and the datasheet gives the measured figure, and both are on this page because a submittal will ask for one and a runtime calculation will want the other. The block delivers 183 watts per battery over 15 minutes to 1.67 volts per cell, is rated to discharge from -20°C to 50°C, sits on a 0.250 inch F2 tab, and weighs 5.77 lbs. It is the second of the two XTV parts CSB holds as stock, which means a cabinet program built around the M7 footprint has a stocked answer at both capacities.

Warranty

Warranty. CSB gives 3 years on the XTV parts built in Vietnam, and this is one of them. Design life is a separate figure: up to 12 years in standby service at 25°C (77°F), and greater than 12 years on the Eurobat 20°C basis. Country of origin is Vietnam. Terms are confirmed in writing with your quote.

The Higher Capacity M7 Block

8.80 Ah measured, 8.5 Ah listed
The 2026 datasheet rates 8.80 Ah at the 20 hour rate to 1.75 volts per cell; the CSB price list carries the part at 8.5 Ah.
183 watts per battery at 15 minutes
To 1.67 volts per cell from the CSB series tables, against 148 watts for the XTV1272F2 in the same case.
-20°C to 50°C discharge
The extreme temperature envelope, with charge and storage rated -20°C to 40°C and a 12 year design life at 25°C.
  • 8.00 Ah at the 8 hour rate - to 1.75 volts per cell, and 7.84 Ah to 1.80, for anyone sizing an eight hour hold rather than a twenty hour one.
  • 130 amps maximum discharge for 5 seconds - the same ceiling as the XTV1272F2, set by the F2 tab rather than the plate group, with 288 amps of short circuit current.
  • 2.55 amps maximum charge current - about 18 percent higher than the 1272, in proportion to the plate area behind it.
  • Approximately 20.9 milliohms internal resistance - within half a milliohm of the smaller block, which is what a shared case and plate count produces.
  • Stock item at CSB - listed as stock on the CSB price list rather than build-to-order, one of two XTV parts with that status.

Where This Battery Is Used

  • Outdoor cabinets where the 7 Ah block runs short - the drop-in upgrade when a runtime test on the 1272 comes back thin, with no change to the tray or the connectors.
  • Fiber and small cell nodes - the M7 class of standby block in enclosures that see the full outdoor temperature swing.
  • Security and fire panels in unconditioned rooms - garages, loading docks and utility rooms that are indoors on the drawing and outdoors in practice.

Ordering and Freight

This block ships by parcel carrier singly or in cabinet quantities; a full pallet goes LTL, where a residential or limited-access delivery adds $100 for the liftgate and access charge the carrier passes through. As a CSB stock part it moves faster than the build-to-order members of the range. A specialist returns pricing, lead time and freight in writing in 24 to 48 hours once we have the quantity and the destination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do the price list and the datasheet give different capacities?

They are quoting to different precision. CSB's distributor price list carries this part at 8.5 Ah, a catalog figure, while the 2026 per-part datasheet rates it at 8.80 Ah at the 20 hour rate to 1.75 volts per cell at 25°C, a measured one. The datasheet is the document a runtime calculation should use. On a submittal that asks for the manufacturer's nominal rating, 8.5 Ah is what CSB publishes commercially and either figure can be defended with the document it came from.

Does the extra capacity change the discharge limit?

No. Both M7 blocks are rated 130 amps for 5 seconds, because that ceiling is set by the 0.250 inch F2 tab and not by the plates. Where the 1285 pulls ahead is sustained power: 183 watts per battery at 15 minutes against 148, and 5.62 amps for an hour against 4.47. On a short, hard load the two behave alike; on a 20 minute hold the 1285 is the one with margin left.

Is this rated for the same cold as the rest of the XTV range?

Yes. Every XTV part CSB publishes carries the same -20°C to 50°C discharge window and -20°C to 40°C charge and storage window, from this 8.5 Ah block up to the 110 Ah XTV121100. The construction that earns that rating does not change with size. What changes is how much energy sits behind it, and on an M7 footprint this is as much as the range offers.

Is the flame retardant case standard?

Not on this part. CSB's datasheet describes the container as ABS to UL 94-HB with the 94-V0 flame retardant version available on request, and the price list prices FR as a surcharged option across the XTV range rather than standard. If the enclosure specification calls for a V-0 case, name it on the order and ask the specialist to confirm the build in writing.

Same case, lower capacity: CSB XTV1272F27.20 Ah at the 20 hour rate and 148 watts per battery at 15 minutes, on the same M7 footprint and F2 tab.
Choosing between the two M7 blocks?

Send a specialist the load in watts and the hold time the cabinet has to carry. The 1272 and the 1285 differ on one number, and that calculation says which one the drawing should call.
