Small UPS cabinets and alarm panels get sized by what fits, then by what it can deliver. The DataSafe 12HX205-FR is the compact end of the HX line: 43 amp hours in an 8.9 inch case, rated at 205 watts per cell over a 15-minute discharge. It carries the same high-rate electrochemistry and the same flame-retardant construction as its larger siblings, in a footprint that drops into equipment where the big units will not go. Cataloged as 12HX205 and as a Data Safe HX battery, if that is the spelling you searched.

Is the 12HX205 the same battery as the 12HX205-FR?

Yes. The FR suffix denotes the flame-retardant case and is how EnerSys catalogs the unit. Parts lists write it both ways, and Data Safe appears as one word and two. They all refer to this battery.

Why does the warranty say 4 years when the design life is 10?

Design life is EnerSys's engineering estimate under good float conditions. The warranty is the period they will replace a failed unit. Both are real numbers and they are not the same thing, which matters because the ten-year figure gets published as a warranty term more often than it should.

Will it fit where my old battery was?

Check three things against your tray: 12V nominal, M6 threaded terminals, and the 8.9 x 5.5 x 8.1 inch footprint. Those are what have to match. Send us a photo of the old label and we will confirm rather than let you find out on install day.

How long can it sit before installation?
