Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 12HX330 right for a telecom plant, or just UPS work?
It is a UPS battery first. EnerSys optimizes the HX line for high power over short windows, the 5-to-30 minute discharges a UPS rides out, where its watts-per-cell ratings shine. A telecom plant that needs hours of reserve is better served per dollar by a long-duration line such as PowerSafe SBS, and we will say so on the quote. Where the same site runs both duties, the two lines coexist happily on separate strings.
What is UL File MH12544?
It is the UL recognition file covering the large-case DataSafe HX models, 12HX205 through 12HX540, and the number a facility auditor can look up to confirm the listing. Pair it with the UL94 flame-retardant case, built to meet UL 1778 for UPS equipment, and the paperwork side of a data room install is covered. The smaller HX models carry their own file, MH16464, so quote the model when an auditor asks.
How tight do the terminal bolts go?
60 inch-pounds, plus or minus five percent, into the M6 brass receptacles, the figure EnerSys publishes for the large-case HX models. Use a torque wrench rather than feel: brass inserts strip when overtightened and a loose joint heats under load, and both failures show up at the worst moment, mid-discharge. Recheck torque at commissioning and on the maintenance interval your site standard sets.
