EnerSys DataSafe 12HX330FR Battery - 12V 83Ah 336 WPC UPS AGM

The 12HX330-FR, listed here as 12HX330FR, is the 83 amp hour block in EnerSys's DataSafe HX top-terminal family, rated 336 watts per cell at the 15-minute rate to 1.67 volts per cell. The HX line exists for one duty: carrying a UPS through the minutes between grid failure and generator pickup, and this model does it at 71 lbs in an 11.8 by 6.8 by 8.4 inch case with M6 threaded receptacles and the large-case models' -22 degrees F floor.

Warranty

Warranty. This battery carries the DataSafe HX float-service term of 4 years from EnerSys. Design life is a different number: EnerSys estimates 10 years in standby. Terms are confirmed in writing with your quote.

Built for the Fifteen-Minute Job

336 watts per cell
At the 15-minute rate to 1.67 VPC, rising to 590 watts per cell for a 5-minute discharge to 1.75.
83 Ah at the 8-hour rate
The reserve figure for longer, gentler discharges outside the UPS window.
3,700 A short-circuit current
With 3.4 milliohms internal resistance, the numbers your protection study starts from.
  • Sealed AGM VRLA, non-spillable - recombination design with self-resealing flame-arresting vents, no watering.
  • UL File MH12544 and UL94 case - the flame-retardant container built to meet UL 1778.
  • Compression grommet terminal seals - the long-life sealing EnerSys fits to the 205-through-540 case sizes.
  • Six-month storage at 77°F - before a freshening charge is required; heat shortens the interval.

Where This Battery Is Used

  • Data room UPS strings - the holdover between mains failure and generator start.
  • High-rate DC standby - plants sized in watts per cell rather than amp hours.
  • Certified seismic cabinets - the HX rack and cabinet program covers this model.

Ordering and Freight

At 71 lbs per unit, string orders ship freight pre-paid by LTL to commercial addresses; a residential or limited-access delivery adds $100, which is the liftgate and access charge the carrier bills us. Send the quantity, your delivery ZIP and your requested-by date, and a specialist returns a written quote with volume pricing in 24 to 48 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 12HX330 right for a telecom plant, or just UPS work?

It is a UPS battery first. EnerSys optimizes the HX line for high power over short windows, the 5-to-30 minute discharges a UPS rides out, where its watts-per-cell ratings shine. A telecom plant that needs hours of reserve is better served per dollar by a long-duration line such as PowerSafe SBS, and we will say so on the quote. Where the same site runs both duties, the two lines coexist happily on separate strings.

What is UL File MH12544?

It is the UL recognition file covering the large-case DataSafe HX models, 12HX205 through 12HX540, and the number a facility auditor can look up to confirm the listing. Pair it with the UL94 flame-retardant case, built to meet UL 1778 for UPS equipment, and the paperwork side of a data room install is covered. The smaller HX models carry their own file, MH16464, so quote the model when an auditor asks.

How tight do the terminal bolts go?

60 inch-pounds, plus or minus five percent, into the M6 brass receptacles, the figure EnerSys publishes for the large-case HX models. Use a torque wrench rather than feel: brass inserts strip when overtightened and a loose joint heats under load, and both failures show up at the worst moment, mid-discharge. Recheck torque at commissioning and on the maintenance interval your site standard sets.

The compact end of the rangeThe 12HX205-FR carries 205 watts per cell where less runtime is enough.
