Frequently Asked Questions
Is 250 watts of modified sine enough for a laptop?
Usually. Most laptop power bricks tolerate a modified sine waveform and draw well under 250 watts. A minority of pickier adapters will buzz or run warm on it; if yours does, or if the laptop is mission-critical, the pure sine PST-150 and PST-300 models remove the question.
How do the two included cables divide the work?
The cigar-lighter plug handles grab-and-go duty for lighter loads, limited by the vehicle's socket fuse. The battery clamps carry the full 250 watts, which draws up to 25 amps, straight from the battery posts.
What happens if I plug in too much?
The inverter latches off rather than cooking itself; flip the power switch off and on to reset. There is a 500 watt one-second surge allowance for switch-on spikes, and over-temperature events reset on their own.
SAM-250-12 or SAM-450-12?
The 450 doubles the outlet count and nearly doubles the power for a few dollars more; the 250 is smaller and lighter still. Same USB port, same included cables, same 2 year term on both.
