Samlex PSR-2200-24 - 2200W Pure Sine Wave Rack Mount Inverter with Transfer Relay, 24V

When commercial power drops at a radio site, the equipment in the rack should not notice. The Samlex PSR-2200-24 is a 2200 watt rack mount inverter with the transfer switch already built in: grid power passes through to your load until it fails or sags out of tolerance, then the inverter takes over from the 24V battery plant in under 10 milliseconds. It fills 2U of a standard 19 inch rack and is sized for the communications shelf that has to stay up through an outage.

In the default offline mode the grid feeds the load while the inverter waits. On failure, the relay hands the load over in under 10 milliseconds, inside the ride-through of most equipment power supplies.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much equipment will 2200 watts support?

Add up the nameplate draw of everything on the shelf. A loaded rack pulling 15 amps at 120 VAC is 1800 watts and fits with headroom, and the 4000 watt surge rating absorbs power-on spikes. If the total passes 2200 watts, send us the load list and we will spec the site before you order.

What does it draw from the 24 volt plant?

A 2200 watt AC load at 24 volts works out to roughly 100 amps DC before conversion losses. Internal DC protection is six 25 amp fuses totaling 150 amps; size and fuse the battery conductors to the tables in the Samlex manual and keep the run short.

Can it match the grid before switching?

Yes. In synchronized mode the inverter phase-locks to the incoming AC, so a transfer lands without a phase jump. Unsynchronized transfer is selectable for sources that cannot be matched.

What is the difference between the PSR-2200-24 and the PSR-1200-24?

Power and hardware. The PSR-2200-24 carries 2200 watts continuous with 4000 watt surge through a 30 amp transfer relay in a 2U chassis; the PSR-1200-24 carries 1200 watts with a 16 amp relay in 1U. The monitoring and configuration suite is the same on both.
