Rack space at a comms site is always spoken for; one rack unit is often all the backup power gets. The Samlex PSR-1200-24 packs a 1200 watt pure sine wave rack mount inverter and a 16 amp automatic transfer switch into a single 1U, 19 inch chassis. Wired to the 24V battery plant, it passes grid power straight through to your equipment in normal operation and picks up the load itself, in under 8 milliseconds, the moment the input fails.

What fits inside 1200 watts?

More than most racks need. A base station, a router stack and a small switch might total 4 to 6 amps at 120 VAC, which is 500 to 720 watts. Check nameplate ratings, keep the steady total under 1200 watts, and let the 2000 watt surge rating cover the power-on spike.

When should I step up to the PSR-2200-24?

When the steady load approaches 1200 watts or you want growth headroom. The 2200 model nearly doubles the capacity and carries a 30 amp relay, at the cost of a second rack unit.

How do I wire the DC side?

Set-screw terminals with 7/16 inch cable holes take the battery conductors, with a separate chassis ground lug. Internal protection is four 20 amp fuses (80 amps total); size the cable to the manual's tables and fuse at the battery end.

Can the site controller switch it on and off?

Yes. The ENB terminals accept a contact closure to ground or an external 10 to 40 VDC signal, and faults report back through the SPDT alarm contacts, so existing supervisory systems can both control and watch it.
