NorthStar NSB155FT HT RED Pure Lead - High Temp Battery
NorthStar NSB155FT HT RED Pure Lead - High Temp Battery
NorthStar NSB155FT HT RED Battery - 12V 154Ah Pure Lead AGM, Front Terminal
Warranty
The Middle of the 22-Inch Range
- 154 Ah at the 10-hour rate - to 1.80 volts per cell at 25°C, the rate telecom reserve is specified on.
- 5,000 amps short-circuit current - at approximately 2.4 milliohms internal resistance, for DC-side protection coordination.
- 117 lbs, four to a shelf - a 48 volt string on one 23-inch shelf at about 468 lbs, which is worth checking against the shelf's rating.
- -40°F to 149°F operating range - with shelf life up to 24 months before a freshening charge is due.
- Non-hazardous for ground, sea and air - flame retardant to UL 94 V-0 with an LOI of at least 28 percent.

Where This Battery Is Used
- Outdoor and unconditioned telecom cabinets - macro cell sites and remote huts running warmer than a standard AGM is warranted for, which is the case the HT build was drawn for.
- Central offices and inside plant - -48 volt strings on 23-inch shelves with every connection made from the aisle side.
- Medical standby and emergency lighting - occupied-building reserves where the UL 94 V-0 case rating is part of the specification.
- Microgrid and data center plant - installations whose specification names the 15-year design life and the EUROBAT classification.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does a part called 155FT publish 154 Ah?
Because the part number is a family designation and the capacity is a measured figure. NorthStar's per-model sheet gives 154 Ah at the 10-hour rate to 1.80 volts per cell at 25°C for both the HT RED and the standard RED in this slot. The one amp hour makes no practical difference to a string calculation, but if a specification names 155 Ah as a hard minimum it is worth raising with the specifier before the order rather than after the acceptance test.
Does a hot cabinet need temperature-compensated charging?
Yes, and the HT build does not change that. Float voltage for any VRLA block is set for a reference temperature, and as the cabinet warms the same voltage pushes more current into the block, which drives up water loss and grid corrosion. A rectifier with a temperature probe on the string lowers the float voltage as the cabinet heats and raises it as the cabinet cools, which keeps the block close to its design charge across the -40°F to 149°F operating range. Mount the probe on a block rather than on the cabinet wall, and ask the specialist for the EnerSys charging figures with your quote.
Can I replace an NSB155FT RED with the HT version?
Yes, and in a warm cabinet it is the upgrade worth taking. The two share the case at 560 by 125 by 280 mm, the same 154 Ah capacity and the same female M8 terminal, so the swap is like for like on the shelf and in the interconnects. What changes is how the block handles heat: the HT build publishes sustained operation at 40°C (104°F), and EnerSys warrants it for four years against three for standard RED. Do not mix the two in one series string; build each string from one part.
Will four of these overload my shelf?
Worth checking, because 117 lbs each puts a four-block string at about 468 lbs before the rack hardware. Telecom battery shelves are usually rated well above that, but a retrofit into a cabinet originally built for smaller blocks is exactly where the rating gets exceeded without anyone noticing. Send the cabinet make and model with your quote request and a specialist will flag it if the shelf rating looks tight; if it is, the 110FT at 86 lbs on the same footprint is the usual answer.
Send the bay height, the shelf rating, the quantity and your delivery ZIP. A specialist confirms the 11.02 inch clearance against the shelf, checks the M8 hardware, and quotes the set with lead time and freight in writing.
