- 13.5 Ah at the 20 hour rate - per the CSB price list, in BCI group M12. Worth stating plainly because 5.1 Ah belongs to the HR1221W, not to this part; the per-part datasheet rates this series in watts per cell rather than amp hours.
- 26.7 amps at the 15 minute rate - to 1.67 volts per cell, rising to 54.4 amps over 5 minutes and 35.8 amps over 10.
- 180 amps maximum discharge current - the ceiling the Faston tab supports, against 300 amps on the bolted HR1290WFR one size up.
- 5.10 amps maximum charge current - the recharge ceiling per block, worth checking against a charger sized for a smaller brick.
- No 30 second rating is published - CSB prints a dash in that row across the HR range, so a worksheet with a 30 second column has to fall back on the 5 minute figure.

Where does this sit between the HR1234W and the HR1290WFR?
Squarely in the middle, and closer to the smaller one than the numbers suggest. The HR1234W gives 34.3 watts per cell at fifteen minutes and 9 amp hours in a 4.34 lb block. This one gives 53.3 and 13.5 at 8.49 lbs, so roughly 55 percent more output for nearly double the weight. The HR1290WFR then gives 90.0 and 23 Ah at 14.55 lbs. For a load between those two ends, this size covers it without forcing a tray or terminal change.
This is the biggest HR block on a Faston tab. Does that limit anything?
It limits peak current. CSB rates this block at 180 amps maximum discharge where the bolted HR1290WFR one size up is rated 300, and the difference is the connection rather than the plates. For a UPS drawing a steady load through a transfer that ceiling is comfortable. For anything with a large startup surge, check the inrush figure against 180 before choosing this size, and look at a bolted part if it is close. The 15 minute and 5 minute watts columns are what size the runtime either way.
Is the flame retardant container included, or is it an upgrade?
Included. CSB's price list lists this part as HR 1251WF2FR with the case marked standard, which is why the FR is built into the part number. That is not consistent across the HR range: the HR1224W and several others carry FR as a surcharged option instead. Where a drawing calls for a 94-V0 container, this one satisfies it as supplied.
Will a charger sized for a 9 Ah block work with this one?
Usually yes, but check the current. Maximum charge current here is 5.10 amps against 3.40 on the HR1234W, so a smaller charger will not damage the block, it will simply take longer to bring it back after an outage. The float window is the same 13.5 to 13.8 volts. The case to watch is the reverse: a charger built for this size pointed at a smaller brick can push more current than that block is rated to take.
Send the load, the transfer window you have to cover and the terminal on the battery coming out. A specialist works it against the 15 minute column and quotes it with lead time in writing.
