Deka Unigy II Spacesaver Battery Module - 24AVR125-33 (48V Config)
Deka Unigy II Spacesaver Battery Module - 24AVR125-33 (48V Config)
Deka Unigy II 24AVR125-33 Spacesaver System - 48V, 2,000 Ah 2V Cells
Warranty
2,000 Ah Cells in a Double Stack
- Interlock module, front bolting only - the patented Interlock design eliminates rear bolting; the front shield assembles without tools.
- Seismic note on the AVR125 - East Penn's flyer states AVR125 modules are tested and certified to NEBS Zone 4 up to three modules high; this configuration stacks six, so seismic requirements at the site are reviewed with the quote rather than assumed covered.
- Microcat vent standard - the catalyst that improves high-temperature performance is standard on the 125 cell.
- Designed to IEC, BS and Telcordia requirements - East Penn states Unigy II products are designed to meet IEC 60896-21/22, BS 6290 and SR-4228, and the cell is a UL recognized component.
- Top or side termination - a standard option at no additional cost; side termination adds 6 inches to system length, 3 per side, per the flyer footnote.
- Charge setting from the manual - East Penn's footnote refers float voltages and charger settings to the Unigy II installation and operation manual, which we host.

Where This System Is Used
- Large 48V telecom plants - central offices, tandem sites and data-heavy hubs sized on the 8-hour rate at 2,000 Ah.
- Utility and switchgear control - long-duration control power where floor space is limited and height is not.
- UPS strings specified in watts per cell - the flyer publishes constant-power figures, so the same cell serves a 48V high-rate application.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does this system stack six high when East Penn certifies Zone 4 to three?
Because a 48V string of 2V cells in two-cell modules needs twelve modules, and a double stack six high is the standard way to fit twelve on a compact floor plan. East Penn's flyer states the NEBS Zone 4 certification for AVR125 modules covers stacks up to three high. That does not make a six-high stack unsuitable; it means the seismic case for your site has to be made from the site's own requirement rather than from the flyer. Tell us the seismic zone or code the site falls under and a specialist confirms what East Penn documents for it before the quote goes out.
How tall is the finished system?
East Penn's footnote gives the arithmetic: subtract 1.5 inches from the 11.91 inch module height, multiply by the number of modules, and add 1.5 inches back, which is about 64 inches for six modules. Then add 4 inches for the base, 1.5 inches for the termination bracket and 6.25 inches for the top shield if you specify top termination, for an overall height near 76 inches. The system drawing on the quote states the exact figure for the options chosen.
What is the difference between the 48V and 24V versions of the 24AVR125-33?
Cell count and footprint. The 48V system is twenty-four cells in twelve modules as a double stack; the 24V system is twelve cells in six modules as a single stack six high, at half the weight and about half the floor length. Both use the same AVR125-33 cell and carry the same 2,000 Ah rating per cell. The plant voltage decides which one you need.
How much does the 48V system weigh on the floor?
8,616 lbs of cells and modules, from twelve modules at 718 lbs each on East Penn's sheet, before the base and connector hardware. Spread over a footprint of about 53 by 29 inches, that is a floor loading a specialist checks against your slab rating as part of the quote. Freight is quoted by dedicated truck or LTL with a forklift receiving requirement at that weight.
