Deka Unigy 12AVR150ET Battery - 12V 150 Ah Front Access Telecom AGM

The 12AVR150ET is a front-access block in Deka's Unigy I line rated 150 ampere-hours at the 8-hour rate to 1.75 volts per cell, in the 4.97 inch wide, 22.17 inch deep case that East Penn uses across its front-terminal telecom range. At 11.63 inches tall and 106.5 lbs it slides into a standard front-access shelf with the quarter-inch 20 threaded inserts on the face, so every torque check and voltage reading happens from the aisle. The plate set is the Unigy I pair, greater than 98 percent pure lead tin-calcium positive and pure lead calcium negative, formed with East Penn's IPF process.

Warranty

Warranty. East Penn's term on this Unigy I front access model is 4 years under E.P.M. Form 0985. Design life is a separate figure: 10 years in float applications at 77°F is East Penn's published estimate. Terms are confirmed in writing with your quote.

Front Access at 150 Ah

150 Ah at the 8-hour rate
18.8 amps for eight hours, 32.2 amps for four hours, or 96.6 amps for one hour, to 1.75 VPC at 77°F on East Penn's Form 0969 table.
Terminal kit and cover on the drawing
East Penn's outline shows the front access terminal kit JAK0017, two L terminals with a hardware kit, and the JFC170PNG protective safety cover over the face.
Shared telecom footprint
4.97 inches wide by 22.17 inches deep is the same shelf cut as East Penn's Fahrenheit HT150ET, so racks built for one take the other.
  • IPF plate technology - individually formed plates, the basis of East Penn's guarantee of 100 percent initial string capacity when tested to IEEE 1188.
  • Sealed AGM VRLA - micro-porous glass mat separators, heat-sealed case and cover, epoxy-sealed posts, and self-sealing flame-arresting valves, all 100 percent factory tested.
  • Standards East Penn lists for the block - GR-4228 (designed to meet), IEEE recommended practices, UL recognition requirements, and UL 1973 certification for energy storage.
  • Rope handle - shown on the outline drawing, for placing a 106.5 lb block on a shelf without a lift.
  • Charge current window - 27.1 amps maximum and 8.1 amps minimum per block, from the Unigy I installation manual.

Where This Battery Is Used

  • 48V front-access telecom strings - four blocks on a front-terminal shelf behind a rectifier plant, sized off the 8-hour rate.
  • Outdoor cabinets - installs where the door is the only access and every connection has to be reached from the front.
  • Replacing a 150 Ah front-terminal block - the 4.97 by 22.17 inch footprint is the common front-access telecom cut.

Ordering and Freight

The 12AVR150ET sells in minimum quantities of four. At 106.5 lbs per unit a set ships freight pre-paid by LTL to commercial addresses; a residential or limited-access delivery adds $100, which is the liftgate and access charge the carrier bills us. Send the quantity, your delivery ZIP and your requested-by date, and a specialist returns a written quote with volume pricing in 24 to 48 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

What comes with the 12AVR150ET for the front terminals?

East Penn's outline drawing lists the front access terminal kit JAK0017, which contains two L terminals (JMP7003) and one hardware kit (JHK0004), plus the JFC170PNG protective safety cover that snaps over the terminal face. Confirm on the quote that the kit and cover are included for your order; a specialist checks the accessory line before the quote goes out.

Does the 12AVR150ET share a shelf with the HT150ET?

The footprint is the same: 22.17 inches deep, 4.97 inches wide, 11.63 inches tall on both. The difference is the chemistry and the term. The 12AVR150ET is a standard Unigy I block with a 4-year East Penn term and a 10-year design life at 77°F. The Fahrenheit HT150ET is East Penn's heat-tolerant build for hot sites with a 6-year term at 77°F and a 12-year design life. If the cabinet runs at room temperature, the 12AVR150ET is the ordinary choice; if it runs hot, price the HT150ET.

How much reserve does a 12AVR150ET string give at a 30 amp load?

Read it from the table. A 48V string of four delivers 32.2 amps for four hours to 1.75 volts per cell at 77°F, so a steady 30 amp plant load sits a little past the four-hour mark. At 18.8 amps the same string runs eight hours. If your load or your temperature sits between the published points, send both figures and a specialist interpolates from East Penn's data rather than from a rule of thumb.

Can I use fewer than four?

The minimum order is four, which is one 48V string. A 24V plant using two blocks per string can still order four and hold two as the second string or as spares, which is how most 24V sites buy this block.

Next front-access block upThe Unigy 12AVR170ET carries 170 Ah at the 8-hour rate in the same 4.97 inch wide case.
