Why is there no 30 second rating for this model?
CSB prints a dash in that column on the XPL3500 datasheet where every other model in the range carries a figure. We publish what the manufacturer publishes, so this page states the 5 minute and 15 minute rates and stops there. If your application turns on a sub-minute discharge, the 4200 one size up carries a published 980 watts per cell at 30 seconds and is the safer specification.
Will an XPL3500 fit where a 2700 was?
Not usually. The 3500 is 10.28 inches long and 6.63 inches wide against the 2700's 8.98 by 5.45, so it needs about 1.3 inches more in both directions and 16 pounds more shelf rating. Height is close, 8.41 against 8.12. Send the internal shelf dimension and we will confirm in writing before anything ships.
The 3500 and 4200 both show 85 Ah. Is that right?
It is. Both blocks are built in the same case on the same capacity, and what separates them is plate configuration: the 4200 delivers 370 watts per cell at 15 minutes against 318, for 5.31 pounds more. This is the clearest illustration in the range that amp hours do not size a UPS string. Two batteries with identical capacity differ by 16 percent in the figure that decides your runtime.
What float voltage does it need?
13.5 to 13.8 VDC per battery at 25°C, with equalization at 14.4 to 15.0 VDC per battery. Keep charge current at or under 29.20 amps. If the room runs warmer than 25°C the float window should come down, and a specialist will tell you by how much for your ambient before you order.
