CSB HRL12540W 12V 540W High Rate Deep Cycle Battery for UPS
CSB HRL12540W 12V 540W High Rate Deep Cycle Battery for UPS
CSB HRL12540W Battery - 12V 540W High Rate Long Life AGM
Warranty and Design Life
What "High Rate Long Life" Means Here
- 542 watts per cell at the 15-minute rate to 1.67 VPC is the nameplate figure and the one to size a UPS runtime against. CSB publishes no amp-hour rating for the HRL series.
- 800 A maximum discharge, 3,523 A short circuit - the cell holds voltage through a hard transfer rather than collapsing into a low-voltage disconnect.
- UL 1973 listed (MH66728) and UL 1989 recognized (MH14533), built to IEC 60896-21/22:2004, TUV NORD certified to ISO 9001:2015.

Where This Battery Is Used
- Mid to large UPS plant - the string that carries a data hall or a plant floor through a transfer.
- Data center and edge deployments - float service where a ten-year design life beats a shorter swap cycle on total cost.
- Switchgear and control power - documented standby duty on an IEEE maintenance schedule.
- Medical imaging and lab equipment backup - short, hard demands where voltage sag matters more than reserve hours.
- Broadcast and process control - loads that cannot ride out even a partial sag on transfer.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the amp-hour rating of the HRL12540W?
CSB does not publish one. The HRL series is rated in watts per cell: 542 W at the 15-minute rate and 838 W at the 5-minute rate, both to a 1.67 VPC end point. That is the correct basis for UPS sizing, where the load is kilowatts and the runtime is minutes. If your specification is written in amp-hours, send it over and we will work out what fits.
Is the warranty really 4 years?
Yes. A blanket "CSB warranty" figure is not meaningful, because the term runs by series. CSB's terms run by series from 1 year on the GP, UPS and HR ranges up to 8 years on the XHT. The HRL mid-to-large range carries 4 years. Terms are confirmed in writing with your quote.
What is the difference between the HRL series and the HR series?
Design life and warranty, on similar high-rate plate design. The HR series is a five-year design life on a one-year term. The HRL is a ten-year design life on a four-year term, built on pure lead. If the string is going into a site you will not revisit for a decade, the difference is the whole argument. If it is a small UPS that gets swapped on a three-year cycle anyway, the HR is the sensible buy and we will tell you so.
Is the case flame-retardant?
The standard container is polypropylene to UL 94-HB. A flame-retardant UL 94 V-0 container is available on request as a build option. If your installation specification calls for V-0, name it on the quote request rather than assuming, because the two are different parts on CSB's side.
What torque do the terminals take?
M6 bolts into I2 threaded lead-alloy inserts at 44.9 in-lbs (5.10 Nm), plus or minus 9 in-lbs. Over-torquing a lead-alloy insert strips it. Use a torque wrench set for this value.
Does temperature affect the ten-year life?
Substantially. The ten-year figure is at 25°C (77°F), and VRLA life roughly halves for every 8 to 10°C of sustained elevation. A UPS room running warm is not a ten-year installation. Tell us the ambient and we will size the expectation honestly.
