Heat is what shortens standby battery life. As a rule of thumb, every ~15°F above 77°F can cut lead-acid service life roughly in half, so a cabinet that runs warm turns a battery rated for a decade into a three-to-five-year replacement cycle, and every early failure is another truck roll. The TEL12-105FHTG is built for that environment: a high-temperature grid and MSE pure-lead plates rated to keep working from -40°F to +160°F.

Why a high-temperature AGM — and when you don’t need one
The reason to pay for a high-temperature battery is simple: in a hot cabinet, the grid is what fails first. The MSE pure-lead grid and high-temperature design are what let this battery hold a 12+ year design life where heat would cook a standard VRLA in a fraction of that.
If your gear lives in a climate-controlled room that stays near 77°F, you may not need to pay for the high-temperature build — a standard front-terminal VRLA will run fine and cost less. The TEL12-105FHTG earns its price when the cabinet actually runs hot. Not sure what yours runs at? About the TEL12-105FHTG
It’s 12V and 101 Ah at the 8-hour rate (98 Ah IEC at the 10-hour rate), rated for up to 800 A maximum discharge with a low 0.0065-ohm internal impedance, so it holds voltage under heavy backup load. At a 1-hour rate it delivers roughly 70 A to cutoff; at the 8-hour rate, about 12.5 A.
Physically it measures 16.2 × 4.2 × 11.4 inches and weighs 72 lbs, on a front-terminal footprint built for 19-inch and 23-inch racks. The case is polypropylene with C&D’s Ohmic Ring™ post seal, and the terminals are threaded copper-alloy M6 inserts.
Design life is 12+ years, and the single biggest factor in reaching it is charging. Hold float at 13.65 VDC per 12V unit and temperature-compensate it (about 3.6 mV per cell per °C off 25°C). Overcharging in a hot cabinet is what ends a standby battery early.
How to make it last
Two things drive standby battery life: float voltage and temperature. Keep the charger at 13.65 VDC per unit with temperature compensation enabled, give the cabinet whatever ventilation you can, and check terminal torque at your normal maintenance interval. Get those right and 12 years is realistic; get them wrong in a hot cabinet and you’ll be back in the rack early.

How hot can it run?
It’s rated to discharge from -40°F to +160°F (-40°C to +71°C), with a charge range of -10°F to +140°F (-23°C to +60°C). That high-temperature tolerance, plus the MSE pure-lead grid, is what supports the 12+ year design life in a hot cabinet.
Can my techs service it from the front of the rack?
Yes. The True Front Access® M6 terminals are on the front face, so a tech can connect and service the battery without pulling the whole string. It also mounts in any orientation.
Does it need watering or maintenance?
No. It’s a sealed, non-spillable AGM battery, so there’s no watering and no topping up. The maintenance that matters is holding correct, temperature-compensated float voltage and checking terminal torque at your normal interval.
