Is the C&D MR series discontinued?

Production status varies by model, and it changes without much announcement. Retired MR models cross to Pure Lead Plus equivalents, confirmed against C&D's own mapping on your quote rather than guessed from a footprint. Send the part number and you will get a written answer: MR stock, PLP successor, or both priced side by side.

Why does duration matter when picking between TEL and PLP?

Because the two lines are built for opposite discharge shapes. A rectifier plant holds the load for hours, which is what the TEL's amp-hour rating describes. A UPS inverter empties the string in minutes, which is what the PLP's high-rate design serves. Run a long-duration battery at 15-minute rates and it delivers a fraction of its nameplate energy, so the string gets sized wrong from day one.
