Where This Battery Is Used
- Repeaters and wireless routing cabinets - small loads held for hours where the shelf is shallow and the door is the only access.
- Customer premise and PBX rack systems - 19 and 23 inch racks taking a front-terminal block instead of a top-post case.
- Small 48 volt DC plants - four blocks behind a rectifier where the reserve requirement is measured in hours.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a 12GX40F deliver over a one-hour discharge?
26.3 amps to 1.75 volts per cell at 77°F, or 51.6 watts per cell on the power table. Take the end point to 1.67 and the same hour gives 27.2 amps and 52.8 watts per cell. A 48 volt string of four blocks therefore carries roughly 1.2 kW for an hour at the 1.75 end point. Send the plant load in amps or watts and the runtime the site standard calls for, and the block count comes off the published row.
Which terminal hardware does the 12GX40F take?
The sheet lists M6 and T6 for this model, which is the one GX block in the group that does not offer the M8 post. The larger 12GX100F, 12GX190F and 12GX210F are M8 with M6 as an option, so hardware and lug sizing do not carry straight across from the 40F to the rest of the line. Power Storage Solutions publishes no terminal torque figure for the series; a specialist confirms the hardware and the torque with the quote before anything gets bolted up.
Is the 12GX40F a high-rate block or a reserve block?
Power Storage Solutions builds it as a pure lead high-rate design, and the discharge data covers both duties. The ten and fifteen minute columns are where the high-rate construction shows, at 91.9 and 73.7 amps to 1.75 VPC. The eight, ten and twenty hour columns cover reserve duty at 4.75, 3.86 and 2.15 amps. One block, two sets of published numbers, and the application decides which column governs the string count.
Where does the 12GX40F sit against the 12GX100F?
Roughly two and a half times apart on capacity and rather more on size. The 100F gives 100 Ah at the 8-hour rate against 38, and 364.4 watts per cell at fifteen minutes against 149.2, from a 16.0 by 4.25 inch case at 67.9 lbs against 11.8 by 3.82 inches at 27.6 lbs. If the shelf has the depth and the rating, the 100F is the fewer-blocks answer for the same reserve.
