Deka Unigy HR3500 Battery - 12V 370 WPC High Rate UPS AGM

The HR3500 is a top-terminal block in Deka's Unigy High Rate series rated 370 watts per cell at the 15-minute rate to 1.67 volts per cell, in a 12.01 by 6.56 by 8.24 inch case at 71.5 lbs. It is the rating East Penn also offers in a front-access case as the HR3500ET, so the two share a place in a UPS sizing table and differ in how the cabinet is serviced. Construction is the Unigy High Rate standard: greater than 98 percent pure lead tin-calcium positive grid, IPF plate forming, epoxy-sealed quarter-inch 20 threaded inserts on the cover, and a UL 94 V-0 polypropylene case.

Warranty

Warranty. East Penn's term on the Unigy High Rate top terminal models is 3 years under E.P.M. Form 0986. Design life is a separate figure: 10 years in float applications at 77°F is East Penn's published estimate. Terms are confirmed in writing with your quote.

370 Watts in a Top-Terminal Case

370 watts per cell at 15 minutes
686 watts per cell at 5 minutes, 1,063 at 1 minute, 130 at 60 minutes, to 1.67 VPC at 77°F on East Penn's Form 2009 table.
Group-size case
12.01 by 6.56 by 8.24 inches is a common UPS tray cut, which is why this rating turns up so often on replacement lists for mid-sized three-phase units.
A front-access twin exists
The HR3500ET carries the same 370 watts per cell in a 4.24 inch wide front-terminal case on East Penn's 4-year tier.
  • Sealed AGM VRLA - micro-porous glass mat separators, heat-sealed case and cover, epoxy-sealed posts, and flame-arresting self-sealing valves, each 100 percent factory tested.
  • UL 1973 certified - the energy storage certification, alongside construction that meets UL recognition requirements and IEEE recommended practices.
  • Flame-retardant polypropylene case - UL 94 V-0, limiting oxygen index above 28 percent, reinforced against bulging.
  • Float setting on the flyer - 13.50V per battery, plus or minus 0.5 percent at 77°F, with an acceptable band of 13.42V to 13.57V.
  • Outline drawing on the flyer - East Penn's Form 2009 includes the dimensioned battery outline for tray layout.

Where This Battery Is Used

  • Three-phase UPS strings - 30 to 40 blocks in series behind a mid-sized UPS, sized on the 15-minute watts-per-cell figure.
  • Data closets and small computer rooms - ride-through to generator transfer where the tray takes a 12-inch top-terminal block.
  • Switchgear control power - trip and close duty on a maintained float, using the 1-minute rate.

Ordering and Freight

The HR3500 sells in minimum quantities of four. At 71.5 lbs per unit a string ships freight pre-paid by LTL to commercial addresses; a residential or limited-access delivery adds $100, which is the liftgate and access charge the carrier bills us. Send the quantity, your delivery ZIP and your requested-by date, and a specialist returns a written quote with volume pricing in 24 to 48 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

HR3500 or HR3500ET: which one do I order?

Same rating, different case and different term. The HR3500 has top terminals in a 12.01 by 6.56 by 8.24 inch case at 71.5 lbs and carries East Penn's 3-year top-terminal term. The HR3500ET puts the same 370 watts per cell in a 19.44 by 4.24 by 9.09 inch front-access case at 75.5 lbs and carries the 4-year front-access term. If the UPS cabinet was built for top-post blocks on a 12-inch tray, order the HR3500; if it uses narrow front-access shelves, order the ET.

How many HR3500 blocks does a 480V UPS string take?

Forty, at 12 volts each, which is the common configuration for a three-phase UPS with a 480V nominal DC bus. Some UPS designs use 32, 36 or 38 blocks, so confirm the block count from the UPS manual rather than assuming. At 71.5 lbs each a 40-block string is 2,860 lbs of battery, which is a freight and floor-loading figure worth having before the quote.

What does the HR3500 deliver at a 60-minute runtime?

130 watts per cell to 1.67 VPC, or 127 to 1.75 VPC, per East Penn's table. That is 780 watts per block for an hour, so a 40-block string supports roughly 31 kW for 60 minutes at 77°F before the string reaches end voltage. If your requirement is closer to an hour than to fifteen minutes, size from the 60-minute column and consider whether an amp-hour rated block like the Unigy I series is the better fit.

What if only one HR3500 in the string has failed?

Our practice is to replace a string as a set once it is more than a year or two into service. A new block in an aged string floats at a different point and ages faster to meet the others. If one block has failed early under warranty, replace it like for like; if the string is at mid-life, price the full set and a specialist will tell you which makes sense for the age of the string you have.

Same rating, front accessThe Unigy HR3500ET carries 370 watts per cell in a 4.24 inch wide front-terminal case on the 4-year tier.
