Deka Unigy HR3500ET Battery - 12V 370 WPC High Rate Front Access

The HR3500ET is the slim front-access block in Deka's Unigy High Rate series: 12V, 370 watts per cell at the 15-minute rate to 1.67 volts per cell, in a case 19.44 inches deep, 4.24 inches wide and 9.09 inches tall, at 75.5 lbs. The quarter-inch 20 threaded inserts sit on the front face, so a technician installs, torques and reads every block from the aisle, and the 4.24 inch width lets more blocks share a shelf than the 4.97 inch front-access cases elsewhere in the Deka range. Inside is the Unigy High Rate construction: greater than 98 percent pure lead tin-calcium positive grid, IPF plate forming, UL 94 V-0 polypropylene case.

Warranty

Warranty. East Penn's term on the Unigy High Rate front access models is 4 years under E.P.M. Form 0986. Design life is a separate figure: 10 years in float applications at 77°F is East Penn's published estimate on Form 1552. Terms are confirmed in writing with your quote.

Slim Case, Front Terminals

370 WPC from the front
654 watts per cell at 5 minutes, 957 at 1 minute, 133 at 60 minutes, to 1.67 VPC at 77°F on East Penn's Form 1552 table.
4.24 inches wide
Narrower than the 4.97 inch front-access cases elsewhere in the Deka range, so a shelf that holds four of those holds this block with room to spare.
Front-access tier
The ET case carries East Penn's 4-year term, a year longer than the top-terminal HR3500 with the same rating.
  • Sealed AGM construction - valve-regulated, with micro-porous glass mat separators, a heat-sealed case and cover, epoxy-sealed posts and self-sealing flame-arresting valves, every one factory tested.
  • UL 1973 for energy storage - carried alongside UL recognition requirements and IEEE recommended practices, per the flyer.
  • Flame-retardant polypropylene case - UL 94 V-0, limiting oxygen index above 28 percent.
  • Published float band - 13.42V to 13.57V per battery around a 13.50V setting at 77°F.
  • Outline drawing to ASME Y14.5 - East Penn's flyer carries the dimensioned drawing, so shelf spacing can be laid out before the blocks arrive.

Where This Battery Is Used

  • Front-access UPS battery cabinets - shelves of narrow blocks wired from the front, common in modular and lineup-and-match UPS enclosures.
  • Telecom and cable headend ride-through - short-duration backup to generator start where the rack is serviced from the aisle.
  • Retrofits of narrow front-terminal blocks - the 4.24 inch width matches shelves cut for slim high-rate cases.

Ordering and Freight

The HR3500ET sells in minimum quantities of four. At 75.5 lbs per unit a string ships freight pre-paid by LTL to commercial addresses; a residential or limited-access delivery adds $100, which is the liftgate and access charge the carrier bills us. Send the quantity, your delivery ZIP and your requested-by date, and a specialist returns a written quote with volume pricing in 24 to 48 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does East Penn give the HR3500ET a year more warranty than the HR3500?

Form 0986 sets the High Rate term by terminal style: 4 years for the front-access ET models and 3 years for top-terminal blocks. The two HR3500 variants share the 370 watt rating and the 10-year design life; the extra year follows the case. If your cabinet accepts either, the ET is the longer-covered choice at 4 lbs more per block.

How many HR3500ET blocks fit on a 24-inch shelf?

Five, if the shelf is a true 24 inches clear and the manufacturer's spacing allows it, since each block is 4.24 inches wide; four with the usual air gap between cases. The 4.97 inch front-access blocks in the Deka range fit four to the same shelf at most. Send the shelf drawing or the cabinet model and a specialist confirms the layout against East Penn's outline drawing.

Why is there no 1-minute rating at 1.75 volts per cell?

East Penn lists it as not available on Form 1552 at the 1.70 and 1.75 VPC rows. A 1-minute discharge at a high end voltage is outside the range the table covers for this block. For 1-minute sizing use the 1.67 VPC row, 957 watts per cell, or the lower end voltages the table does publish. If your UPS specifies 1.75 VPC at one minute, say so and a specialist will check the alternatives rather than guess a number.

Is the HR3500ET a telecom battery or a UPS battery?

It is rated for UPS work, in watts per cell over minutes, and the East Penn form that governs its warranty is the High Rate form. It is used in telecom plant where the requirement is short ride-through to generator start rather than hours of reserve. For an eight-hour reserve string, the amp-hour rated Unigy I blocks such as the 12AVR150ET are the right series; for fifteen minutes at high power from a front-access shelf, this is.

Same rating, top terminalsThe Unigy HR3500 carries 370 watts per cell in a 12.01 by 6.56 inch top-post case.
