Can this go in a UPS?
We would steer you elsewhere. CSB publishes no float charging voltage for the EVX range, which is the figure a UPS depends on because the battery sits at full charge continuously for years between events. The EVX sheet gives an equalization window and a cycle count instead, and it is built to IEC 60254, the traction standard. For float standby duty the HR, HRL and XHRL ranges are the ones CSB rates for it, and they publish the float window and the watts-per-cell figures a UPS string gets sized on. Tell a specialist what the battery is powering and you will get pointed at the right family rather than the nearest amp hour match.
What do 400 cycles and 1,800 cycles translate to in practice?
They bracket the same battery at two working depths. Run it flat every time and CSB expects about 400 discharges from it. Take it down 30 percent and stop, and it expects roughly 1,800. The second case delivers more total energy over the life of the block, about 1.35 times as much on the published figures, and it takes four and a half times as many cycles to get there. The practical reading is that a pack sized generously and cycled shallow outlasts a pack sized tightly and cycled hard, which is the usual argument for buying one size up.
Is 40 amp hours the real measured capacity?
Yes, and that is not true of every CSB range. The datasheet gives 40.00 Ah at the 20 hour rate to 1.75 volts per cell, so the part number and the measurement agree to two decimal places. CSB's UPS ranges badge on watts per cell instead and their labels sit a few percent under the measurement. At the 8 hour rate this block gives 31.52 Ah, which is the figure to use if your duty empties the pack in a working shift rather than over a day.
Which terminal does it come with?
Confirm it on the quote, because CSB's two documents describe it differently. The per-part datasheet specifies an I2 threaded insert taking an M6 bolt at 44.9 lbf-in, plus or minus 9.0. The CSB price list records the standard terminal for this part as B2 / I. Those describe different hardware, and on a 40 Ah mobility block the terminal decides if an existing harness bolts straight on.
