Gel or AGM for a power wheelchair?

Gel, unless the equipment manufacturer says otherwise. Mobility duty is a daily deep discharge followed by an overnight recharge, and gel chemistry tolerates that cycle for more seasons than AGM in the same size. The charger matters as much as the battery: gel wants a gel-profile charger, and most powerchair chargers are built exactly for it. What do group sizes like 8D, 30H and 31 mean?

They are standardized case footprints, so a group 30H battery from any maker occupies the same tray space. Match the group size of the battery coming out first, then the chemistry, then the terminal style.
