Deka Fahrenheit HT150ET Battery - 12V 149 Ah Heat Tolerant AGM

The HT150ET is the 149 ampere-hour block in Deka's Fahrenheit line, East Penn's front-access telecom battery built for cabinets and huts that run hot. It is rated 149 Ah at the 8-hour rate to 1.75 volts per cell at 77°F, in a 22.17 by 4.97 by 11.63 inch THT case at 103 lbs, the same footprint as the standard Unigy 12AVR150ET, so it drops onto the same shelf. What differs is inside: the Helios additive, Microcat catalyst and TempX grid alloy that East Penn specifies for high-temperature service, and a published 12-year float design life against the 10 years of the standard block.

Warranty

Warranty. East Penn publishes a 6-year term at 77°F for the Fahrenheit HT line. Design life is a separate figure: 12 years in float applications at 77°F on Form 2448. Terms are confirmed in writing with your quote.

The Hot-Cabinet Version of a 150 Ah Block

149 Ah at the 8-hour rate
18.6 amps for eight hours, 33.2 amps for four hours, or 100 amps for one hour, to 1.75 VPC at 77°F on East Penn's Form 2448 table.
Drop-in footprint
22.17 by 4.97 by 11.63 inches, front access, quarter-inch 20 inserts: the shelf cut for a 12AVR150ET takes the HT150ET without change.
12-year design life
East Penn's published float figure at 77°F for the Fahrenheit line, two years past the standard Unigy I block in the same case.
  • Float current cut by up to 75 percent - the Helios additive, per East Penn, which is the mechanism that limits internal heating on a hot site.
  • Microcat catalyst in the vent - lowers float current further and works against the thermal buildup and cell dryout that end VRLA life in heat.
  • TempX alloy on pure lead grids - positive plates over 98 percent pure lead with an alloy East Penn specifies for corrosion resistance at temperature extremes.
  • THT case compound - a heat-resistant formulation that holds plate compression, UL 94 V-0 with a limiting oxygen index above 39 percent.
  • Standards on the flyer - UL 1973 certification for energy storage, UL recognition requirements, IEEE recommended practices; IPF plate forming throughout.

Where This Battery Is Used

  • Outdoor telecom cabinets without air conditioning - 48V strings of four where summer cabinet temperature is the life-limiting factor.
  • Huts and shelters with failed or marginal cooling - sites where a standard block has been replaced early more than once.
  • Hot-climate front-access shelves - the same 4.97 inch shelf cut as the standard Unigy I front-terminal blocks.

Ordering and Freight

The HT150ET sells in minimum quantities of four. At 103 lbs per unit a set ships freight pre-paid by LTL to commercial addresses; a residential or limited-access delivery adds $100, which is the liftgate and access charge the carrier bills us. Send the quantity, your delivery ZIP and your requested-by date, and a specialist returns a written quote with volume pricing in 24 to 48 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

HT150ET or 12AVR150ET for the same shelf?

Same footprint, different service temperature. The 12AVR150ET is a standard Unigy I block, 150 Ah at the 8-hour rate with a 10-year design life and a 4-year East Penn term. The HT150ET is the Fahrenheit build in the same case, 149 Ah with a 12-year design life and a 6-year term at 77°F, carrying the heat-management measures the standard block does not. In a conditioned room the standard block is the ordinary choice. In a cabinet that spends summers above room temperature, the HT150ET is built for the conditions and its term and design life reflect that. Send the site's typical cabinet temperature and a specialist will say which one to price.

Why does the HT150ET table stop at the 10-hour rate?

East Penn's Form 2448 publishes discharge currents from 1 hour to 10 hours for this block, where the standard Unigy I flyers run to 24 hours. The 10-hour figure is 15.3 amps to 1.75 VPC, which works out to 153 Ah at that rate. For reserve calculations past ten hours, send the load and the required reserve and a specialist asks East Penn for the extended figures rather than extrapolating from the table.

Does the heat tolerance change the charger setting?

The float voltage on the flyer is the same 13.50 volts per battery, plus or minus 0.5 percent at 77°F, as the rest of the Deka 12V range. East Penn publishes a separate Fahrenheit installation and operating manual, Form 2100, which covers temperature compensation for this line. Set the plant to that manual rather than to the standard Unigy I manual, and record the setting at commissioning.

Is the HT150ET a UPS battery or a telecom battery?

East Penn markets the Fahrenheit line for telecom and data center sites alike, and the block is amp-hour rated for reserve time rather than watt-rated for a fifteen-minute UPS discharge. Use it where the string is sized in ampere-hours over hours and the site runs hot. For high-rate UPS ride-through in a hot room, ask a specialist about the High Rate series and the site conditions together.

Larger Fahrenheit blockThe Deka Fahrenheit HT200ET carries 190 Ah at the 8-hour rate in the same 4.97 inch front-access case.
