Deltran Battery Tender Junior Multi-Chemistry 022-0199-DL-WH - 12V 1A Lead-Acid and Lithium Battery Charger

This is the Battery Tender Junior 800, re-rated to 1 amp and renamed the Junior Multi-Chemistry: a compact charger with a selector for 12V lead-acid or 12V lithium iron phosphate, for batteries of 3 to 30 amp-hours. Same part number, 022-0199-DL-WH, same job, a new housing and a slightly higher output. Modern sport bikes and plenty of ATV and PWC upgrades now run LiFePO4 batteries, and a lead-acid float charger left on one of those slowly pushes it past the voltage its management system wants. Two Chemistries, One Selector

Lead-acid or lithium, your call
The lead-acid profile floats flooded, AGM, gel, and sealed batteries at a continuous micro-current. The lithium profile uses a higher absorption voltage and a maintenance routine that never parks a LiFePO4 pack at lead-acid float.
A full amp in bulk
The whole 1 amp goes in until the battery nears full, absorption tapers it, then float or lithium maintenance takes over. A run-down battery recovers a little sooner than it did on the 800 mA version.
Compensates on lead-acid
On the lead-acid setting the charger raises voltage in the cold and lowers it in the heat, so the profile fits the garage in January and July.

What does the Deltran warranty cover on the 022-0199-DL-WH?

Deltran's 5-year limited warranty covers the charger itself. It does not reach a battery that was charged on the wrong setting, so match the selector to the battery label before you connect. Keep the receipt and contact us if you ever need to file.

Is the Junior Multi-Chemistry the same charger as the Junior 800?

Yes. Deltran raised the rating from 800 milliamps to 1 amp, moved it into the current housing, and renamed it, but the part number and the lead-acid or lithium selector are unchanged. If you have been searching for the Junior 800 or the Lithium Junior, this is the current version.

What happens if I choose the wrong chemistry?

Lead-acid float on a LiFePO4 battery holds it, over weeks, above the voltage its BMS is built for and can damage the cells. The lithium profile on a lead-acid battery leaves it undercharged. Neither mistake shows up right away, which is why the selector deserves a second look every time you connect.

How do I know which setting my battery needs?

Read the battery label. AGM, gel, and flooded batteries are all lead-acid and use the lead-acid setting. Anything marked LiFePO4 or lithium iron phosphate takes the lithium setting. If the label says lithium but not iron phosphate, send us a photo before you charge it.

How long does a 1 amp charger take on a motorcycle battery?

A 12 Ah battery at half charge needs about 6 Ah back, which is roughly 6 hours of bulk charging at 1 amp plus an hour or two of absorption. Overnight covers nearly any battery in the 3 to 30 Ah range; a fully flat 30 Ah battery is closer to a day and a half.
