Deltran Battery Tender Plus 022-0196 - 6V 1.25A Automatic Battery Charger
Warranty
A 6V Charger for 6V Batteries
- Spark-proof - no current until the charger sees a battery, which matters next to a carbureted engine and a cloth-wrapped harness
- Reverse polarity protection - connect it backwards and it shuts down rather than pushing current the wrong way
- Short-circuit protection - automatic shutdown on a fault
- ETL and CETL certified
- Two-color LED - red while charging, green once the battery is full and floating
- 12 ft output cord - with alligator clips and a ring-terminal lead on a quick disconnect

Frequently Asked Questions
What warranty comes with the 6V Battery Tender 022-0196?
Five years from Deltran, limited. Hold on to your receipt; a claim goes to Deltran, and we will help you get it started if the charger ever gives trouble.
Why can I not use my 12V Battery Tender on a 6V battery?
A 12V charger tries to bring the battery up to roughly 14 volts. A 6V battery is finished at about 7, so the charger keeps pushing, the electrolyte boils, and the plates warp. The 022-0196 stops where a 6V battery needs it to stop.
Does the 022-0196 also charge 12V batteries?
No. It is a 6V-only unit. For a garage with both voltages, the Power Tender 4A has a 6V/12V switch, or the 12V Plus 021-0128 handles the 12V side on its own.
Why does the housing say Junior when the listing says Plus?
Deltran lists the 6V unit under the Plus name because its 1.25 amp output and 14 to 80 Ah range match the 12V Plus, but it ships in the compact Junior-style case with a Junior label. Go by the part number, 022-0196, and the 6V marking on the front.
Does it work on a positive-ground car?
Yes. The charger only cares which battery post is positive. Clip red to the positive post and black to the negative post regardless of which one is strapped to the frame, and keep the clips off the body.
