Where This Battery Is Used
- Three-phase UPS strings - 32 to 40 blocks in series where the sizing table lands between a 370 and a 475 watt block.
- Computer rooms and network cores - ride-through to generator transfer on a top-post tray under 9 inches tall.
- Switchgear and breaker control - trip and close power on float, using the 1,227 watt 1-minute rate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the HR4000 a 400 watt battery?
East Penn rates it at 420 watts per cell at the 15-minute rate to 1.67 volts per cell at 77°F on Form 2010. The 4000 is the model designation. A UPS sizing table built on 400 watts per cell will under-count the string slightly; use 420 and the published columns for other runtimes.
Where does the HR4000 sit against the HR3500 and the 31HR5000?
In the middle, on rating and on size. The HR3500 gives 370 watts per cell from a 12.01 by 6.56 by 8.24 inch case at 71.5 lbs; the HR4000 gives 420 from 12.93 by 6.84 by 8.70 inches at 81 lbs; the 31HR5000 gives 475 from 13.46 by 6.84 by 11.21 inches at 97 lbs. The HR4000 is the largest of the three that stays under 9 inches tall, which is often the deciding measurement in a UPS battery cabinet.
Does the HR4000 share a footprint with any Deka telecom block?
The 12AVR100 in the Unigy I line is 12.93 by 6.84 inches, the same length and width, at 9.33 inches tall against the HR4000's 8.70. They are different batteries for different jobs: the 12AVR100 is amp-hour rated for eight-hour reserve, the HR4000 is watt-rated for fifteen-minute ride-through. The shared footprint means a tray cut for one physically takes the other, but the sizing basis does not transfer.
What does the HR4000 deliver at a 30-minute runtime?
254 watts per cell to 1.67 VPC, or 249 to 1.75 VPC, per East Penn's table. That is 1,524 watts per block for half an hour, so a 40-block string carries roughly 61 kW for 30 minutes at 77°F. At the 60-minute column the figure is 143 watts per cell. Send the UPS load and the runtime you need and a specialist works the string count from the published row rather than from the 15-minute headline.
