CSB EVX12400 Battery Replacement
CSB EVX12400 Battery Replacement
CSB EVX12400 Replacement - UPG UB12500 12V 50Ah AGM
Warranty
More Capacity in the Same Slot
- Approximately 11 milliohms internal resistance - higher than the CSB EVX12400's 8.2, so the CSB block is the stronger one on a short heavy pull even though it holds less.
- 45.3 amps over 30 minutes to 10.50 volts - 513.9 watts across the block, falling to 23.5 amps and 270.2 watts over a full hour.
- Charge at 15 amps or less - UPG's stated ceiling, with a cycle-use control voltage of 14.5 to 14.9 volts.
- Capacity moves with temperature - UPG publishes 102 percent at 104°F, 100 at 77°F, 85 at 32°F and 65 at 5°F, which is the figure to apply before sizing for a cold location.
- Certified for air transport - UPG states DOT, IATA, FAA and CAB certification for this non-spillable AGM, and it is UL recognized under file MH 20567.

Where This Battery Is Used
- Mobility chairs and scooters - the common home for a 12 volt block in this footprint, where the extra 10 amp hours read as extra range.
- Patient lifts and powered medical equipment - daily cycling against a fixed overnight charge.
- Standby and backup duty - the published float window makes this one usable where a battery sits charged between events, which the CSB EVX range is not rated for.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a CSB battery?
No. This page is named for the CSB EVX12400 because that is the part people are replacing, but what ships is a UPG UB12500 from Universal Power Group. Every specification on this page comes from UPG's own sheet, which is linked above. If you want the genuine CSB part, it is listed separately and the link at the foot of this page goes straight to it.
Why does this hold 50 amp hours when the CSB part holds 40?
Different plate design in a case of almost the same size. UPG builds this one for capacity and rates it 50.0 amp hours over 20 hours; CSB builds the EVX12400 for deep cycling and rates it 40.00 over the same window with 8.2 milliohms of internal resistance against this block's 11. More capacity and more resistance usually travel together. The practical reading is that this block runs longer and the CSB block hits harder.
Can it be left on a charger permanently?
Yes, within the published window. UPG gives a float control voltage of 13.6 to 13.8 volts, which is what a standby charger should be holding. Use the cycle-use figures of 14.5 to 14.9 volts only where the battery is being worked and recharged rather than held. Getting those two the wrong way round is the most reliable way to shorten a sealed lead acid battery's life.
How long can it sit before it needs a charge?
UPG publishes the curve: 91 percent of rated capacity after three months at 77°F, 82 percent after six, and 64 percent after twelve. A spare kept on a shelf should get a top-up charge at six months and certainly before twelve. Warmer storage runs the numbers down faster, so a battery kept in an unconditioned space needs charging sooner than the table suggests.
Tell a specialist what the battery powers and how hard it gets worked. Capacity favors this block, discharge strength and published cycle life favor the CSB part, and the answer is usually obvious once the duty is on the table.
