Frequently Asked Questions
Can dust or water get into the MB5.5U?
Not grit or spray. The lid has no cell caps to lift and no vent tube, so they find no way through. Motobatt's factory activates and seals the MB5.5U, and since it never needs water, nobody has a reason to open it after that.
Is the MB5.5U waterproof?
No. Sealed and waterproof are different promises. The closed lid keeps road spray out of the cells, but the battery isn't built to sit underwater, so never submerge it. If water ever covers it, take it out, dry the case and posts, and call us before you ride.
Do the 250 RV NGR and the 125 RV share a battery?
Yes. Both bikes take a 12N5.5-3B, so our Gilera 125 RV page and this one both list the MB5.5U. Batteries get swapped as bikes change hands, so check the code on the one you pull. If it reads 12N5.5-3B, the MB5.5U fits.
