Can it charge two 12V batteries wired in series as a 24V bank?

Yes. Set the selector to 24V and connect across the whole bank, positive on the first battery and negative on the second. The charger treats the pair as one 24V battery, so the bank needs to fall within 20Ah to 150Ah and both batteries should be the same age and type. Mismatched batteries are better charged one at a time on the 12V setting.

Why is the output only 2.5 amps at 24V?

Power is voltage times current. Five amps at 12V and 2.5 amps at 24V are the same 60 watts, so the charger delivers the same energy per hour either way. A 24V bank simply takes it at half the current.

Is it safe to leave mounted outside year-round?

The housing is built for it: potted electronics, aluminum case, IP67 sealing, and temperature compensation that adjusts the charge voltage as the seasons change. Keep the AC plug in a dry location and give the ring terminals a look each spring.

Does it handle 24V lithium batteries?

Yes. Deltran includes a LiFePO4 profile at both voltage settings. Set the chemistry selector to lithium, set the voltage to match your pack, and check the battery maker's charge-current limits, which a 2.5 amp rate sits well under for packs in this size range.
