Where This Battery Is Used
- Telecom cabinets and remote terminals - float service on a -48V plant string where the footprint has to stay small.
- 23-inch relay rack trays - a 48-volt system of these fits one tray.
- UPS standby plant - reserve duty rather than daily cycling.
- Switchgear and control power - documented float service on an IEEE maintenance schedule.
- Fire alarm and life safety panels - top-terminal access where the enclosure has clearance above the battery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is a battery called 12AVR100 rated 94.1 Ah?
Because the 100 is a series designation, not a measured rating. East Penn publishes 94.1 Ah at the 8-hour rate to 1.75 VPC on Form 0955. Size the reserve against that figure, not against the part number.
Is the warranty really only 1 year?
One year full replacement, under East Penn Form EPM 0985 Rev 4/12. Terms are confirmed in writing with your quote.
What is the difference between the 12AVR100 and the 12AVR100ET?
Terminal position, and with it the warranty. The 12AVR100 on this page is top access at 94.1 Ah and carries 1 year. The 12AVR100ET is front access and carries 4 years. Same nominal family, different case, different terminal, different term. If a rack was built for front access, the top-terminal unit will not service the way the installer intended.
Can I mix these into an existing string?
Only with batteries of the same type, rating and roughly the same age. Putting a new cell into an aged string ties the new battery's service life to the old one, and most manufacturers will decline a warranty claim on a mixed string. If you are replacing one failed unit out of a set, tell us how old the rest are and we will give you a straight answer about whether it is worth doing.
How do I confirm this is the right battery before ordering?
Send a photo of the label on the unit you are replacing plus the tray dimensions. Voltage, capacity basis, terminal type and footprint are the four that have to match, and top terminal against front access is the one most often missed on this part. We would rather talk you out of the wrong battery than process the return.
Send the quantity, your delivery ZIP and your requested-by date. A specialist confirms availability, the terminal variant, volume pricing and freight in writing, with no obligation to buy.
